Free Roof to a Veteran in Need Giveaway
At Higher Dimensions, we believe in giving back—not just to our community, but to the men and women who have served our country. Each year, we proudly host our Free Roof to a Veteran in Need Giveaway, an event dedicated to honoring veterans by providing one deserving hero with a brand-new roof at absolutely no cost.
How It Started
The tradition began as early as our 11th roof. Our Veteran Owner, Patrick Ruegemer, was approached by his VA about another veteran in need—a roof was leaking, and help was hard to find. Even though Pat had just started his roofing business, he didn’t hesitate. Using his own funds, asking Owens Corning to donate materials, and rallying his crew to volunteer their time on a Saturday, Higher Dimensions put on a brand-new roof for that veteran.
The impact was so meaningful that Pat knew it couldn’t stop there. The following year, after officially establishing Higher Dimensions and earning the Platinum Preferred Contractor designation (awarded to only the top 1% of contractors nationwide), Pat approached Owens Corning about making this an annual tradition. They agreed. With Purple Heart Homes joining as a partner to help verify eligibility, the Free Roof Giveaway became a lasting commitment.
How It Works
The giveaway kicks off every spring on Memorial Day during our Annual Patriotic Murph Event. Applications are accepted all summer until Labor Day in September. From there:
- Applications – Veterans fill out a short form to apply.
- Verification – The selected veteran completes paperwork, which is submitted to Purple Heart Homes for background verification.
- Planning – Owens Corning provides the roofing materials, while Higher Dimensions covers labor, permits, dumpsters, and more.
- Installation – We aim to complete the roof installation on or near Veterans Day in November, weather permitting.
- The result: a completely free, brand-new roof for a veteran in need.
